Shopify App Store currently has over 7,300 apps competing for merchants’ attention. The number of new apps appearing weekly ranges from 40 to 90. The competition is tough. We started Ecowwerce because there are hundreds of developers out there, who want to take advantage of the market, but just don’t know how.

The need today

To win in the race for top positions on the Shopify App Store, developers should constantly enhance their knowledge in product marketing. Shopify, as is, doesn’t provide enough information, and they often need to dig through third-party resources to learn how to promote the apps effectively.

A need for growth hacks arises both from novice developers who’ve just launched their first Shopify app and from old-timers who feel stuck in their marketing endeavor to increase app installs.

The backstory

SpurIT was founded in 2011. At that time, SaaS was already a sustainable trend and the e-commerce industry was gaining momentum. It was clear that success lies at the intersection of these two trends — SaaS and e-commerce. This is how I selected the niche, where Shopify and BigCommerce were the pioneers at that time.

After a while, Shopify surpassed BigCommerce in many ways. Therefore, we at SpurIT focused on the development of e-commerce solutions for this platform.

The road to success and its challenges

When we entered the Shopify market, the platform didn’t offer as many opportunities as it does today and didn’t allow us to develop complex solutions. Hence, our customers were small companies with a tight budget, which was a major roadblock to the growth of SpurIT. Since that time, we have acquired great experience and evolved together with the platform.

Nowadays, SpurIT is:

  • 80 people representing one of the strongest teams on the Shopify market;
  • Shopify Experts with 4.9–5 star rating based on client reviews;
  • 40 Shopify apps, 4 of which were successfully sold;
  • Monthly Shopify app audience of 100 million users;
  • Proprietary libraries, advertising tools, and services for tracking market statistics.
As a data-driven company, we strive to measure every change we make and the impact they have. We tested over 500 product marketing hypotheses during the last 4 years and know what works on Shopify. Now, we’ve grown enough to share our expertise and reach new heights.

The dawn of Ecowwerce

In 2021, Ecowwerce was founded. Before that, no company provided a complete set of tools to Shopify developers — from marketing consultations to advertising instruments and support services for their apps.

Ecowwerce became the first ever to offer services in the following fields:

  • Product analytics
  • Shopify ad campaigns setup and launch
  • Ad campaigns performance audit
  • Customer support outsourcing.
If you ask me to describe what we do in one sentence, I’ll say: “Ecowwerce helps Shopify developers find the missing tools to promote their products on the market with the aim of maximizing their revenues.”

Our mission

The mission is to create a partner community of Shopify developers within a single ecosystem and give them efficient tools for promoting and supporting their products on the market.

The key goal of this partnership is to build trust and team up with some members of our community to jointly create an IPO.
